This was a terrific find for me. I was on line to try to find a new travel WaterPic by Teledyne. Instead I found a replacement battery for the 350W Travel model.
I installed it and my old one is saved from the landfill !!
It is operating great.

Instapure R-8 White Replacement Filter for $12.99

List Price:$14.99

I have an undersink filter that came with my house. Changing the filter always meant finding someone to do it for me,since it meant turning off the water and a lot of effort. And always a mess!

This is a simple solution that I can change with zero effort and requires no outside help. A turn in one direction and the filter is off. A turn in the other direction and the new filter is on.

Drawbacks: They need changing very frequently. The cost mounts up. The water doesn't come out with gusto, but not a trickle either. Just less force.

I like the additional settings which bypass the filter, saving on filter usage.

It could be better, but it isn't bad and a whole lot easier than the under the counter type filter.

It is reasonably attractive for what it is.

Although I'm in my 50's I finally figured that it was never too late to take better care of your teeth. So having heard recommendations of the Water-Pik, I eventually ordered it (the twin pack with Sensonic Toothbrush). All I can say is, I wish I'd got one of these years ago! It really does make oral hygiene easier and more thorough. I use it before brushing night and morning. It only takes a minute or so and I always fill the reservoir with fresh warm water as directed and use till its gone. It can be quite surprising to see just how many particles it removes from your teeth. The flow is variable and I only have it set at about a third of its potential. I've used it for 2 weeks now and am very happy with it and with the toothbrush.

Interplak WJ2CS Compact Rechargeable Water Jet for $17.94

This Water Jet is much quieter than the high-end rechargeable Water Pik (Ultra WP-450). I was always a bit self-conscious when using it while my wife was sleeping. The Interplak unit is so quiet that there is no worry. The Water Pik, which I had for about a year and a half, was really hard to charge. The connection between the charger and the Water Pik was non-standard and didn't make a reliable connection - and there was no LED indicator to tell me when it was charging. So when I would plug it in I would never know if it was charging or not. The next day when I tried to use it, I would then discover if it had charged or not. I had to devise a special way of propping the Water pik up while stretching the cord to try to ensure it was actually going to charge. There were times it took several attempts over night to get it charged. The Interplak promises to be better at charging because the connection is a standard barrel connector. The Water Pik also had issues with drying out the water reservoir because there is only one small hole. Fortunately it didn't have a tendency to get mildewy but if it did, I would have had a very difficult tie cleaning it. The Interplak has a cup with a very large opening and you can leave it and the rest of the unit on the shelf separated all day long to dry out. The big opening makes it easy to clean and fill. The Water Pik was difficult to fill because it has such a small hole for filling. If your bathroom sink bowl is small the length of the unit will not allow you fill it all the way. Since the Interplak's cup comes off it is as easy to fill as a dixie cup. One issue with the Interplk is that the on-off button is hard to feel. As you turn the unit in your hand you lose track of where the on-off button is and once the water runs out in the reservoir, you have to look around for the switch. (This is a bit of a drag if you still have water in the reservoir and you want to turn it off - if you pull it out of your mouth while it is pumping, you'll get water all over your bathroom.) Storing the unit for drying is a problem with the Interplak unit because it will be in 2 pieces on your counter - I'm still not happy about that but I prefer that to having a unit that is almost impossible to clean. The Water Pik, on the other hand, was pretty easy to store because it stands up taking no more space than a drinking cup - but it doesn't have an opportunity to dry - whether you take it apart or not. Both the Interplak and the Water Pik do a good job of removing junk between teeth. I have a gap that tends to hold food and they both were good at removing the food. The real benefit of these are for gum stimulation and I believe they are both effective there, too. I have visited the dentist 3 times since getting an irrigator and I believe my gum health is improving. The Interplak has only one speed and it seems to be a stronger jet than I am used to with the Water Pik - I always used the low setting on the Water Pik - basically I don't see any benefit of having 2 speeds - You'll learn to live with whatever setting you get. I am sure the Interplak is easier to pack for trips than the Water Pik, but I only travel a couple weeks a year and I just leave it at home.

I had a surprise about a week after starting to use the Interplak - it stopped pumping water even though everything appeared to be functioning. I was afraid I would have to return the unit. After trying just about everything, I decided I'd suck on the nozzle and se if I could get water through it with or without the pump. It turns out that once I got water sucked into the pump it started to work. Now I realize that the pump needs to be primed with water in order to work. If the water drains from the pump, it won't work. Now every tie I use it, I suck water into the unit through the nozzle as a turn it on.

Bottom Line - Interplak is better all the way around.

This product is easy to use and really portable. It really helped me out in a surprising way recently. I was traveling with my cat and found that in the morning, she had decided to embed herself in the mattress springs under the motel bed in an effort to avoid being put into her carrier to leave the motel with me. After many unsuccessful attempts to coerce her out of there, I pulled out my oral irrigator, aimed it under the bed and out she came in a jiffy! It's great for teeth and cat control!

Philips Sonicare FlexCare Plus, Rechargeable Toothbrush for $159.99

this is my third Sonicare toothbrush, and the best. It definitely cleans teeth superbly - not only can i tell it, but the dental hygienist i go to says "Whatever you're doing to keep your teeth clean, keep it up". Before i started using the Sonicare, the dental hygienist used to have to do a lot of plaque scraping, but no more.

The last Sonicare i used had a screw-on brush, and over time gunk built up under the screw-on cap. I was only aware of it when i changed the brush (every 3 months, as recommended by my dentist), but i didn't like the idea. This flexcare has a snap-on brush with no space beneath for anything foreign to build up. Even better, this unit has an ultraviolet light that kills germs and keeps the brush sanitary. (I have a UV light on both a hot tub and a koi pond, and you can see the difference they make in just a day).

The battery stays charged for over a week of use when on trips, so no need to carry the charger.

So - clean teeth and clean brush, no plaque, easy to use, and various special features (like the battery indicator). Well worth the money!

Waterpik Waterflosser Cordless PLUS for $40.03

I've had this thing for a few months and love it! I got it because I had my wisdom teeth removed a few weeks before and the wound was not healing well. I couldn't ever keep it clean. I'd brush and mouthwash several times a day but the infection kept coming back. After two weeks with this they have healed up and my mouth has never felt cleaner.

I use it on a daily basis instead of flossing as well as some spot cleaning after eating.

The tank last just long enough for me and the battery life is better than I expected, lasting a couple weeks on one charge. The pressure could be a little more now that my gums are used to it but it's still getting the job done no problem.
